Finalising a suspension in ERN - QRG
This guide details how to close/ finalise a suspension record in ERN.
Background
Once a student has returned from a suspension or the principal has decided to proceed with an expulsion, the principal MUST finalise the suspension record and close the associated behaviour incident.
Note: All student information used has been manufactured and does not relate to any real student.
Before you start
- Principal, School Admin Manager and/or delegate has given access in AMU to finalise suspension records in ERN
- Locate and have available the details of the student or the record that is being finalised
- Login to ERN
Summary of instructions
1. Find student in ERN
- Once you have logged into ERN, expand the search panel from the ERN Homepage and click ‘Behaviour and Suspension’ option from the left-hand side panel
- Select ‘Behaviour Suspension Search’ tab
- Enter the student's details. You can search for a student by their SRN, family name, and or date of birth. Or you can search for a suspension record by selecting ‘Click here to show Suspension Options’. Then select ‘Go’
- Scroll down and select the correct student from the ‘Search Results’ below
2. Select the specific behaviour record that you need to close, and the associated suspension record will appear below
3. Change the ‘Status’ from ‘In Progress’ to ’Resolved’ . Then click ‘Save’
4. Select the ‘Behaviour Details’ tab, then select the ‘Closed’ checkbox and click ‘Save
Find student in ERN

5. Select the specific behaviour record that you need to close, and the associated suspension record will appear below.
6. Change the ‘Status’ from “In Progress” to “Resolved”. Then click ‘Save’
7. Select the ‘Behaviour Details’ tab, then select the ‘Closed’ checkbox and click ‘Save.
