Change student family

Change student family is the most powerful function of Family Management.

It lets you find a student and remove them from one family and then attach them to another family (which indeed may have been setup by another school). It is typically used where siblings have been added without realising they are siblings.

In our example we have Maria Burton who has been added and her brother Harry. We have decided that we wish to move Maria Burton to be in Harry's family.

Here we see Maria's record prior to the 'transfer'.

This is Harry's family prior to the transfer. The mothers details have been entered twice, once for each child. This could be from old OASIS data, one student at one school now being at the same school as their sibling or just due to enrolling the students separately.

To perform the 'transfer' simply click Change Student Family on the student you are moving.

Then specify the name of a parent in the family you wish to send the student to.

Now you must very carefully select the family you wish to send the student to, in this case its the second one in the list, I use the parents name, siblings name, suburb and school enrolment details to select this student. Click on the family I wish to transfer on then simply press save.

The new family is now shown. Note you will need to now tell ERN what the parental relationships are for this student. This can be done easily by clicking on the line between the parent and the child.
