PDHPE K–6 sample units align with the department’s scope and sequence. The structure follows NESA’s sample whole school curriculum plan. Four sample units for Early Stage 1 will be released in a phased approach across 2025 and 2026.
The Term 1 PDHPE unit has had an update. The Road Safety ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø lessons have been refined to better reflect alignment to Transport NSW. New graphics have been included in the PE lessons. We recommend downloading and using the new version.
Students explore personal strengths, respectful relationships, and essential safety skills. They learn about hygiene practices and strengthen self-management and interpersonal skills by managing emotions, making decisions, seeking help, and responding respectfully in different situations. In PE, students develop and refine fundamental movement skills such as balancing, running, sprinting, and catching, while participating in games that build spatial awareness, encourage fairness, and promote safe use of equipment.
This unit teaches students about identity by exploring personal strengths, culture, place, and family connections. They learn about safety symbols, practise fire safety behaviours, and understand how to seek help in unsafe situations. In PE, students develop jumping and hopping skills and apply them in games that promote fair play, rule-following, and the safe use of equipment. Students strengthen resilience, teamwork, and interpersonal skills by practising persistence, empathy, problem-solving, and responding to feedback.
