Apple iPads
After you have setup Apple School Manager and your Jamf Pro instance there are a couple of steps remaining to set up your iPads for Technology 4 Learning.
Now it's time to unbox and switch on. Follow the steps in the video or follow the instructions below.
- Ensure you are in a room with access to DETNSW Wi-Fi.
- iPads out of the box usually come fully charged, but if this isn’t the case, plug them into a power cable.
- Switch the iPad on.
- Follow the start-up instructions on the iPad, and once prompted, connect to DETNSW Wi-Fi, using the schools' service account.
Your iPad should now begin the enrolment process, simply follow the onscreen instructions. This may take some time.
When your iPad is set up, ensure the Wi-Fi proxy settings have been configured correctly. To do this:
- tap onto the Settings app
- tap into the Wi-Fi
- tap on the ‘blue i’ for your DETNSW network
- select ‘Configure proxy’
- tap and set this to ‘Automatic’
- select ‘Save’ in the top-right corner of the screen.
Remember to always use the schools' service account when first connecting to Wi-Fi.

As part of the department's agreement with Apple, all sites now have access to Apple technical and user support via AppleCare. Just call EDConnect on 1300 32 32 32 then press 5 for IT support and follow the AppleCare prompt and PIN instruction. You'll be automatically transferred to AppleCare where you can get troubleshooting support for Mac and iPad. You can even ask for user support for Apple apps and software, if you have questions about using iMovie or other iLife and iWork programs. This service is also open after hours by calling AppleCare direct on 1300 760 237 and quoting PIN 3232.
