EAL/D ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Leadership Strategy

The EAL/D ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍøal Leadership Strategy aims to build the capacity of schools to achieve the best possible outcomes for students learning English as an additional language, including those who are newly arrived and from refugee backgrounds.

The EAL/D ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍøal Leadership Strategy began in 2021 when 28 experienced, TESOL qualified, EAL/D specialists were employed as EAL/D ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Leaders to support schools in evaluating, planning and implementing effective EAL/D strategies to enhance student learning outcomes. The Leaders were placed in 23 principal networks across the state. By 2024 the strategy has expanded to include 30 EAL/D ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø leaders.

EAL/D ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Leaders

EAL/D ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Leaders will provide high quality, evidence based professional support and advice for school leaders and teachers across principal networks to increase their capacity to address the diverse English language, literacy and learning needs of EAL/D students, including those who are recently arrived and those from refugee backgrounds. They will coordinate opportunities for school leaders and teachers of EAL/D students to strengthen communities of practice within and across schools.

EAL/D ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Leaders will work with school leaders to collect and analyse evidence to plan, implement and evaluate whole school strategies and personalised approaches to learning to support the needs of their staff, students and school community.
