How to process a selective high school enrolment application

Please note: Screen captures below show fictitious examples only.

1. To start processing applications, click Enrolment applications, New & In Progress.

2. When you receive an application, it will appear on the Enrolment applications page. Click on a student’s name to view their application in detail.

3. You will be taken to the student details view. Click Check. This will check if the student has an existing SRN or if you need to create a new SRN.

If the SRN is already linked, please move to step 8.

Please note: You may be able to skip this step if a parent/carer has verified their identity with Service NSW when starting the application.

4. If the student has previously attended a NSW public school, you will be able to link them to their existing SRN. A list of possible matches showing data from ERN will appear. Select the matching student.

If the student is enrolling in a NSW public school for the first time, please move to step 6.

5. Click Link SRN.

For more information go to how to check and link an SRN.

6. If the student does not have an existing SRN, click Create as new student.

7. Click Create SRN.

8. Any remaining actions will appear with a red exclamation mark. Follow the prompts to resolve any issues. If information supplied conflicts with data held in ERN, please contact the parent/carer to resolve.

For more information about resolving issues please go to How to complete actions in the school interface

9. Once any issues have been resolved, the Send to ERN button will be enabled. Click Send to ERN.

10. Click Send and lock.

This creates or updates the student’s ERN record and is the last step to process an application in the OES.
