Academically Selective High Schools

Parents/carers of Year 7 academically selective and partially selective students will now have the option to complete an enrolment application online.

The Online Enrolment System (OES) can now used by schools to process each application and will provide visibility of the status of each offer/enrolment application.

When a parent/carer accepts an offer to attend a selective high school, they will receive an email the following day with a link inviting them to complete an enrolment application online.

The Online Enrolment System can be used for the following school types:

  • Fully selective high schools
  • Selective streams in partially selective high schools
  • Agricultural high schools.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Question Answer
How do I get access to the Online Enrolment System (OES)?

Please ask your principal to provide access by following these steps in AMU.

Is OES available for Year 8 to Year 11 selective high school applications? At this time online enrolment is available for Year 7 students only.
What happens if a parent or carer accepts an offer and then declines after we have sent their application to ERN? Steps to manage this are available here QRG How to manage an application when a parent declines or accepts a higher choice offer.
Do we need to print the enrolment form for filing? Printing is not required when applications are processed in OES.
If information is missing from an application, can parents go back into their enrolment and make changes?

After a parent or carer submits an enrolment application online, only schools can make changes to the application in OES. Please check with the parent or carer if information is missing or conflicts with the information held in ERN.

Pleasse note: Online Enrolment System (OES) is separate to SHSOC (Selective High Schools and Opportunity Class) placement system.

What happens if a student accepts an offer at our school and then accepts an offer at a private school? You will still need to follow-up with those parents or carers. The NSW Department of ÌÇÐÄvlog¹Ù꿉۪s enrolment systems are separate to private school systems. That means we do not receive updates if students move to private schools.
If parents are having problems completing the application, what support do you offer? Parents or carers can contact the Parent Support Team. Contact details are at the bottom of each page of the online enrolment application.
What about the reserve list and how are offers managed to those students? Are they still managed by the Selective ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Unit?

There is no change to the process for students on the reserve list, they continue to be managed by the Selective ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Unit.

Are parents given a deadline to complete the application? When parents or carers accept an offer, they receive an email that contains a link to the online application. The email asks them to complete the application within 14 days.
Can partially selective schools transfer applications from mainstream to selective? Yes. The steps are available in How to transfer an enrolment application from mainstream to selective.
What if parents/carers dont attach supporting documents?

The program is working on improvements to the supporting documents upload.

These changes are expected to be available before July 2025.

Will documents like birth certificates be visible in ERN? Supporting documents including birth certificates uploaded by parents or carers can be viewed in OES. Please note: They are not copied or transferred to ERN.
