About
Out of school hours care (OOSH) services operate in more than 900 public schools in NSW. There are also another 930 offsite OOSH services operating in locations across NSW.
OOSH services offer a mix of before and after school hours care and vacation care, for primary school students. Since June 2019, more than 191 new OOSH services have opened on Government School sites, and more than 16,000 additional places have been created.
The NSW Government supports access to OOSH services for families in NSW. Supporting families, which includes women returning to the workforce, and the OOSH sector, is a key focus.
The Shared Use of Schools Team works in collaboration with schools, families, and service providers, with the aim of addressing the need for Out of School Hours Care in NSW Government school communities.
To understand the changing requirements of families, the Shared Use of Schools team conduct regular surveys that inform decisions about providing flexible, affordable care for families. The Shared Use of Schools team can be contacted via email at SharedUseofSchools@det.nsw.edu.au.
